Coming to PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2012, Furious 4 is a new branch for the Brothers in Arms brand and a new take on World War 2.

Here's what Gearbox President and CEO Randy Pitchford had to say when he announced the game during Ubisoft's E3 2011 press conference:

Gearbox Software's Brothers in Arms games have been about history - about sacrifice - about brotherhood. About fighting not merely for Duty and Honor but for the guy next to you behind the sand bags. Brothers in Arms games have been authentic recreations of World War II battles that put you in the boots of the 101st Airborne from the beachhead at Normandy to the front-lines of Nazi war machine. That’s what the Brothers in Arms franchise has been about since its debut: They were games we loved to make, and they are games we are eager to make again. But that is not what I'm here to talk to you about today. Our partners at Ubisoft challenged us to take a new approach to the WW2 shooter and we agreed to take up that challenge. This is an entirely new take on war games. This is a new take on World War 2. What I'm here to propose is a game about a very special squad who love being soldiers and are very, very good at their jobs. These soldiers live for the thrill of the fight and enjoy killing their enemies. These are soldiers whose favorite thing in the world is kicking Nazi ass. The story of this squad incredible and legendary - the stuff from which tall tales are born. Some of you will have the opportunity to see this squad and the game in action in the days to come at the Expo. But now, I would like all of you to meet the Furious 4.
