Scott V
Bio
Scott joins Gearbox from Cinematix Studios in Phoenix, AZ where he was a programmer on two PlayStation 2 games. While in Phoenix, Scott earned a B.S. degree in Computer Science. Before Cinematix, Scott wrote multi-user payroll software and a 3D graphing package for Rhino Productions. Now at Gearbox, Scott has developed a passion for audio programming while still writing his fair share of game code and tools. In 2003, during the crunch of shipping Halo PC, Scott wrote a 14 page article and demo for Game Programming Gems 4 titled 'Implementing an Environmental Audio Solution Using EAX and ZoomFX'. There is a rumor, false of course, that Scott leads a conspiracy to secretly steal rendering CPU time to allow for more advanced audio features. Scott is also Gearbox's softball coach.

If interested in engine development: <a href="http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=09f7578c-24aa-4e0a-bf91-5fec24c8c7bf&DisplayLang=en">Download the DirectX SDK</a> and start going through all the C++ samples.

If interested in writing game code, pick your favorite game that supports modifications (Unreal, Half-life, Quake, and etc. based games) and start modifying them.
