Bio
I'm just a huge nerd. A pretty typical one, I suppose. I’m into video games, just about everything sci-fi, breaking…err…fixing computers, etc, etc, etc. I started out in the mid 90’s typing it up in dos and slumming around BBS’s. Went to college way to long; getting my bachelors degree in computer science in the fall of 2006. Before coming to Gearbox, I worked as a computer tech for Tulsa Community College for about 7 years. I married my high school sweetheart in the fall of 2006. No kids, though. Umm…well, that’s just about it.

O’Yea, it’s been a dream of mine to work in the video game industry every since I was a kid so working at Gearbox is very exciting to me.

Resources I would recommend for those interested in getting into game development (books, tutorials, sites, etc)
Go to college and get a BS degree. Just about every position now requires at least a BS degree.

Learn how to write a resume and cover letter properly. Before you apply for a position, learn as much about the company as possible and reflect that knowledge in your resume and cover letter. Proof read, proof read, proof read. Have everyone proof read it. One simple little spelling or grammar mistake can put your resume into the trash. I know it sucks but that’s the way it is.

Create as much as possible. Whether it is programming, animation, level design…it doesn’t matter. Just keep doing it. Practice makes perfect.

Make an online portfolio of your best stuff (if applicable). There is no reason to not have a webpage nowadays.

And above all, never give up. Always follow your dreams no matter who tells you otherwise. This is your life…do with it what YOU want.

Treat others as you want to be treated.

People too weak to follow their own dreams, will always find a way to discourage others.
