Bio
First and foremost I am a gamer. I’ll be dating myself, but I started playing video games so long ago that the TRS-80 was the computer of the time. Once I got bit by the gaming bug, I cut my teeth on and worked my way up through the Commodore VIC 20, then the C64, then the various commodore Amiga models and finally on to my very first PC when Wing Commander came out (along with every console I could get my hands on as they came out). I’ve watched the industry grow up from crude text games made in peoples’ bedrooms and garages into this massive monster of an industry where many game budgets are not far away from Hollywood sci-fi movie budgets and take entire teams of individuals years to make.

Before entering into the game industry I spent over six years traveling the world with the military, from Tokyo to Hong Kong to the Seoul, South Korea and other points all over Asia to most of the countries in Central and South America and even served in the Gulf War in the 1990’s. After that I spent nearly a decade as a Letter Carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, that’s a mail man to the “normal” people. ;) Through all those travels and over all those years, I was always close to gaming and video games. They quite simply latched on to me at an early age in a way I’d have never imagined.

Eventually, somehow, I found myself actually “in” the game development industry. :P

Advice
Advice
Resources I would recommend for those interested in getting into game development (books, tutorials, sites, etc)
Absorb any kind of media that can spark ideas in you. And travel as much as you can, as a level designer, you'll eventually be designing areas or locations that you might have actually visited.

In the end, do anything that can make you a more creative and a more well-rounded person. ;)

Favorites
First game I remember playing
Probably Hammurabi or one of the old Infocom games (Zork maybe?) :P
All-time favorite game
No! Cannot do this one. Choosing only one would be shafting some others that deserve just as much praise. I've always hated this question. ;)
Non-video gaming hobbies
Fast cars. Absorbing as much knowledge and media as I can. :P
Favorite bands/music
I'm a child of the 80's, so there's a spot in my heart for music from that era, but my musical tastes are all over the place. I've been listening to a lot of Kings of Leon lately. ;)
Favorite books/authors
Glen Cook, without a doubt. The most under-appreciated author in the military fantasy genre. His Black Company series are my absolute favorite reads of all time.
Favorite TV shows
Currently Dexter. And I'll never forgive HBO for killing off Deadwood. :(
Favorite movies
Blade Runner is my all time favorite movie. I've watched it more times than I'm comfortable admitting.
