Bio
Ryan started at Gearbox as a programmer in 2004. A native of Lufkin, Tx, he received his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. After graduating he worked at MySanAntonio.com until he took the opportunity of a lifetime to attend The Guildhall at SMU. After an 18-month crash course in game development at the Guildhall, he came on as a COGS programmer. Now he joins the Gearbox team to live his life-long dream of being a game developer. Ryan's credits include Tic-Tac-Toe in pencil and paper, Blackjack on his TI-85, Yahtzee in VB, several Guildhall projects(4-wheeler Frenzy, Hyper Dunkball, Dybbuk, and Kung Fu Fighter) and now Brothers In Arms.

Resources I would recommend for those interested in getting into game development (books, tutorials, sites, etc)
For programmers, there are a couple sites that have some really great tutorials. GameTutorials.com is a nice resource for beginner to intermediate level programmers. Also NeHe.GameDev.net has some really awesome tutorials. Nehe is the one that got me started.

First game I remember playing
The first game I ever played was probably Combat on the Atari. It was a blast bouncing bullets off walls and killing your opponent.
All-time favorite game
Splinter Cell. This entire series is one of the best ever. Fantastic Gameplay and a fun multiplayer as well. Not to mention gorgeous environments and terrific use of lighting and shadows.
Non-video gaming hobbies
I enjoy playing Softball and Basketball, hanging out with my wife, and watching movies.

I typically listen to Christian music. My favorite artists are Steven Curtis Chapman, Avalon, Mercy Me, Casting Crowns, and Relient K.

I don't read a whole lot, but I enjoy the Left Behind series when I do.
