Our Brothers in Arms community is one of the most diligent and detail-oriented game communities I've ever seen (though you Aliens guys are up-and-coming in that category!). They love the authenticity that our Brothers in Arms games offer, and often go to great lengths to check up on us and make sure we're doing our homework. They've certainly done theirs this time - they've used Google Maps and many other tools to determine the exact physical locations of many of the events in our 2006 E3 demo.
Here's a link to the whole thread!
Carl Shedd hops in to give the posters the current map of the area in the demo, complete with overlays of how the area looked during the war:

Forum member arnolder takes Carl's map to the next level, comparing it to an aerial map from 1943. Next he takes some screens from the demo and marks them on the map - check out his post for the whole series!

Self-appointed WWII historian and forums member Battle Detective finds photos of the 88's in the map, and goes on to find more reference photos of the area; you can see all of them in this post. Woz talks about a chapter in George Koskimaki's book Hell's Highway that relates to this segment in the game.

Battle Detective goes on to provide the forums with tons of historical photos (and current ones for copmarison). Make sure you read the whole thread to see the entire reconstruction process! We've also got quite a few members who live in the Netherlands, who have provided the forums with recent photos - how cool is that? Now that they've figured out the E3 2006 maps, it looks like they're working on finding some for the recent E3 2007 demo!

Our BiA fans are always finding the most awesome authenticity details in our games - I'm glad we have such dedicated fans. It means that our efforts are always appreciated (and that we know if we've made any mistakes ;p ). So, here's to you, Brothers in Arms fans! You guys are great!
