Two plane flights and 36 hours later, Gearbox is all settled in for our week here at the Leipzig Game Convention! It all began at 11:30am Dallas time on Monday, and now it's sometime around 10:30pm Leipzig time on Tuesday. Yesterday morning, the Gearbox crew shipped off to DFW airport to catch our flight out. While we grabbed a bite to eat, Randy and Matt Armstrong discovered that we are living in the future - their blackberries actually have an "enhance" image feature, just like you see in the movies. A random guy even recognized Randy there, just a fan of Gearbox - what a small world!
We flew to Frankfurt, and connected to Leipzig (giving me enough time to read an entire book, play a ton of Etrian Odyssey and Puzzle Quest on my DS, and listen to quite a few albums), where we discovered that the flight containing half of the Gearbox group had been forced to land in Ireland for a "medical emergency." International travel is fun! After several hours of confusion and waiting, the group was finally united at the convention center. Thankfully, some other Dallas area people had been on my flight, so I wasn't alone in the confusion of being in a country where I don't speak the language.
Once united, we checked out the convention center, which is still preparing to open the floor. I grabbed several photos and ran around crazy-like figuring out where things are so that I can make sure to get some really cool photos and other content for Gearboxity this week! After the convention center, we all headed out to check out Leipzig a little - we had a very authentic German meal, saw the church where Bach is buried (and got a cool description of the work he did there from a friend), and finally headed back to the hotel to prepare for the show tomorrow...
I really have to get some sleep now! I can't wait to show you guys what we're up to at the convention this week, so keep checking up for new stuff! In the meantime, here are a couple pics I got today - we have several cameras here, so you can expect an even bigger album later!
