What inspires you?

Kale M: Caterpillar equipment and other heavy machinery, Pinball, Joe Satriani, Zoology, Edgar Allen Poe, Jules Verne, H.G. Wells, my wife, the Hubble Space Telescope image archive...

Patrick D: Seeing positive public reaction to what we make (or are about to make) and doing my best to deliver something that is fun.

Lee A: I'm a big collector of other artists work, whether it be 3d models, sculptures, hand drawn, game art screen shots, level layout, etc. When I'm working on my own stuff I usually look through the 3GB folder to get ideas and new directions that I otherwise may not have thought of. There are lot of talented individuals and I use them for inspiration in my own work.

Mark K: Amazing things in any realm. Great art, food, music, literature, you name it.

Lorin W: Anything inspirational...oh, specifics? Um, my view from the 11th floor window downtown, while playing my Cloverfield dvd.

Keith S: Myself, mostly. I'm pretty great. Whenever life presents me with a challenge, I'm sure glad I'm me, because a lesser person might not be equal to the task.

Eli: the people around me. i don't get to build art as much as the artists around me so i have to live my passion for building art through them.

Ben W: My wonderful wife and kids (family), Co-Workers, other games that are out

Jason M: Movies, and conversations with other humans.

Ryan F: Reading, or anything that stimulates my mind really. I like listening to people talk about technical stuff. Oh, and competition. If it's a competition it's that much more fun.

Kyle P: Caffeine. Music. Movies. Games.

Charlie W: Seeing if we can ship Aliens before DNF. Also the Sea Monkeys having sex right in the window that overlooks Plano are pretty inspiring.

Chuck W: Seeing other peoples work that is jaw dropping. It puts me in the mood to press as hard as I can to reach some sort of benchmark I feel they have set.

Andrew W: Awesome things.

Patrick B: Space.

Mark F:
Eli

Simon H: When someone does something better than I am doing it - being surrounded by so many talented people is why Gearbox is such a great place to work. And really good independent films - seeing talented filmmakers produce gold on shoestring budgets.

Rosalie K: It sounds dorky, but the creative process inspires me. I love to witness creation...good thing I make games!

Ben N: Boobies! No wait, umm epic concepts, vistas and personalties.

What, if anything, do you like to listen to while you work?

Kale M: Joe Satriani, Metallica, Guns 'n' Roses, Queen, Cranberries, Alanis Morisette (so sue me), Nightwish, Rob Zombie/White Zombie, Styx, Scorpions, Kansas, Nirvana.....

Patrick D: Howard Stern's show, and either the electro-rock, trance, or alternative rock stations on Sirius.

Lee A: I have a videogame soundtrack collection that I keep adding too. I also listen to 1up Podcasts, Diggnation, GFW radio etc. I like hearing what reviewers think of games. It's always great when they talk about something that your working and see what they really think Smile plus, Diggnation is hilariously awesome!

Mark K:
When I'm hooking up sounds and not making them, I listen to lots of different types of music. 50s rock, glitch, game/film scores, old jazz, industrial, etc. I also like to listen to old radio dramas and variety shows.

Lorin W: See above. Either that, a soundtrack, or Adam Carolla's Basic Cable Classic movie reviews.

Keith S:
Bodnar. I set up a phone tap. Shhh!

Eli: i listen to talk radio. 1310AM the Ticket and Hijinks Enuse podcasts

Ben W: Itunes (mine and others) I like techno mostly, but a wide range also

Jason M: Last.fm - Channel "The Orb"

Ryan F: I generally put my music on random. However, I like to listen to live shows too.

Kyle P: I prefer long albums, so I don't have to find something new to listen to too frequently. Double albums are especially good. Recently I've been revisiting the Smashing Pumpkins' "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness."

Charlie W: The clickity clackity of the keyboards in my room.

Chuck W: A lot of Dredg, an amazing band that fills my ears with amazingness while I work.

Andrew W: Recently I've been on a kick of Paramore, No Use for a Name, Millencolin, and Rise Against.

Patrick B: Mostly ambient music, or a fan on my desk.

Mark F: Eli

Simon H:
SleepResearch_Facility's Nostromo and Deep_Frieze, Dilate's Octagon and Cyclos, and the soundtracks to Solaris and The Fountain. (I can't listen to anything with lyrics and still be able to write.)

Rosalie K:
I tend to listen to podcasts, for some reason I like to listen to talking while I work. So, the Stephanie Miller Show and Hijinks Ensue podcasts. Oh, and Dave Chapelle or Chris Rock stand-up!!!!

James H: I love podcasts too. I guess having someone else's conversation in my ears keeps that part of my brain busy, helping me work longer without getting tired. My favorite is Keith and the Girl.

Ben N:
Classical, sometimes techno.

What games are you most looking forward to this year?

Kale M: Hell's Highway. I am legitimately stoked to play the final version of this game. Other than that, I can't really think of anything left for this year to look forward to...

Patrick D: Probably Fallout 3 and Metal Gear Solid 4.

Lee A: Starcraft 2, MGS4, Hell's Highway, Spore, Duke Nukem Forever (hopefully it will come out this year), Gears of War 2, New Prince of Persia, Fallout 3.

Mark K: Metal Gear Solid 4, Fallout 3, Final Fantasy Tactics A2, Silent Hill: Homecoming. The year of sequels!

Lorin W: ...the 5th...next question.

Keith S: Pengo. There's a repair guy here now. It's gonna be awesome. According to the Twin Galaxies board, my personal best score would put me at #11 in the world. My practice regimen should put me in the top 10 soon, though. That's right, Robert Macauley, I'm comin' for you!

Eli: getting this one out the door

Ben W:
BIA HH obviously, Spore, WOW expansion

Jason M: Spore

Ryan F: Gears of War 2, Starcraft 2, Final Fantasy Tactics A2, Final Fantasy IV, Wrath of the Lich King, and Hell's Highway.

Kyle P: Hell's Highway is the next big release on my radar. I've been catching glimpses of it recently and it looks fantastic.

Charlie W:   already got GTA. Possibly Mirror's Edge but I'm not sure about it yet.

Chuck W: Castle Crashers

Andrew W:
In no particular order: GRID, Mirror's Edge, Gears 2, Lego Batman/Indiana Jones, Hell's Highway, Samba de Amigooooooooooo, Fallout 3, Starcraft II, Wrath of the Lich King, Jetpack Brontosaurus, Bus Driver. And GTA4 since I don't have it yet.

Patrick B: Fallout 3, Metal Gear Solid 4, Diablo II, Brothers in Arms:Hells Highway.

Mark F:
Eli

Simon H:
Now that GTA4 is out? Not much. Metal Gear Solid 4, Gears Of War 2, and Star Wars Force Unleashed

Rosalie K:
The ones sitting around my apartment that I haven't gotten around to playing yet, like GTA IV.

Ben N: Spore (GTA IV is already here).

What platform has seen the most attention from you recently?

Kale M: My 360.

Patrick D: Right now, my XBox 360 since I got Grand Theft Auto IV for it, and still play Rockband.

Lee A: I still play my 360 more than any other system. My PS3 is a glorified Blu-ray player that also happens to play games. 360 games just play better and for a system that's been out longer than the ps3 its definitely not showing its age with all these great games that have been released. Until the PS3 has a better online experience and ability to join friends easily, the 360 keeps me coming back for more.

Mark K: PS2. I've been hooked on Persona 3 FES. Can't put it down.

Lorin W: see above

Keith S: Senator Obama's, I guess. I've got my eye on that dude.

Eli: sadly none at this moment. my DVR is getting the most attention recently

Ben W: PC for sure (wow), but the Wii and ps2 have been put to good use also

Jason M: Xbox due to GTAIV

Ryan F:
I bought a 360 recently (finally, geez!) and I've been spending a lot of time with that.

Kyle P: My Xbox 360 by far, although Mario Kart Wii may have something to say about that.

Charlie W: PS3 because of SuperStardust and GTA IV.

Chuck W: PS3/PC

Andrew W: 360 by far.

Patrick B: Xbox 360

Mark F:
Eli

Simon H: I play with my 360, and my wife plays with my Wii. My PS3 is just gathering dust...

Rosalie K: My DS, thanks to Zelda: Phantom Hourglass!

Ben N: Seriously disappointed in the lack of good PC love this year. So 360.
