Ubidays Press Round-Up

Ubidays was huge for Hell's Highway this year - a new trailer and hands-on demos for the press have generated a lot of BiA buzz in the gaming world.  For those of you who haven't checked up in a while (or even those of you that have), we've compiled a list of links to new Gearbox and Hell's Highway information.  With the release coming up in August, there's tons to be excited about!

New Trailer! - the biggest reveal for the BiA fans during Ubidays was a brand new trailer.  This trailer is all in-game, and feels as epic as any movie trailer you've ever seen.  There's tons of action and a few story hints that we know will leave you begging for more (like our great BiA community is)!

Videogamer has posted an interview with Randy that touches on the history of Hell's Highway's prodcution, the technology and console comparisons, and that we've got a few surprises in store for the fans!

Ve3d is hosting a video of the Ubidays opening ceremony, which features the Colonel pumping up the crowd and the debut of the brand new trailer.  "Everybody fights!  Nobody quits!  Always attack!"

Jeuxvideo shows us a PS3 gameplay video from the hands-on Ubidays demo.  It shows gameplay and the opening cutscene for the mission that was available for Ubidays.  For those interested in how things are going for the PS3, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised!

PC Games Hardware is carrying an in-depth technical interview with Randy.  Read on for details about the UE3 technology and how Gearbox has harnessed it for Hell's Highway, as well as tidbits about DirectX and more technical goodies.

Gamespot also got a chance to get their hands on Hell's Highway at Ubidays - check out their impressions in their review"Now entering the final stages of development, the game is running at a solid frame rate and boasts some excellent graphical flourishes, particularly when it comes to rain."

A blog from the Mercury News talks about Hell's Highway and its storytelling.  They saw the game at Ubidays San Francisco, and honed in on how Hell's Highway creates a compelling narrative, a goal for many video games.  "Hell's Highway looks to me like the game that could represent a milestone in credible and compelling storytelling."

There have been several general articles about Gearbox, including several interviews with Randy that talk about everything from Randy's personal history to our company and how we approach making games.   IGN has posted a generally light-hearted hotseat interview with Randy.  Gamespot also recently did a video "Behind the Games" feature where Randy talks about Gearbox's history and philosophy, among many other topics.  Randy also made an appearance for a bit in the Jace Hall Show - there's a bit about Hell's Highway in the video!  If you're interested in Hell's Highway and love the BiA story but haven't checked out the recent comic series, do yourself a favor - the comic has gotten incredibly great reviews!  Also, if you had to miss the Ubidays opening ceremony, you can see it all on Youtube!

If you see anything I missed, please let me know in the forums thread!  A special thanks to forums member lowjunen and his BiA news consolidation thread
