It's been a while since Gearbox threw a proper (pre-) release party. Some of you old timers may remember the Liberation Party thrown in '05 for Earned in Blood. If you don't, I think we have some photos to refresh your memory! Well, we've certainly one-upped ourselves. The Victory Party, thrown to celebrate the impending launch of bother Brothers in Arms Hell's Highway and Samba de Amigo, was an enormous success!
We rented out the Palladium Ballroom, a large music-style venue in Dallas, and invited our employees and our closest friends and family - oh, AND about 1,000 more people from the general public. There were drinks, dancing, entertainment, and a few teasers for some of our upcoming titles like Borderlands and Aliens: Colonial Marines. Of course, Hell's Highway and Samba were in the spotlight, and we watched the trailers during a speech by company president Randy Pitchford. Gearbox has come a long way in the past few years, and it feels like we're just getting started!
Entertainment was provided by Candy West and the Whatchamacallits, a local Dallas act who played some 40's era jazz as we filtered in, and then the national anthem played by Josh Taylor, and finally, the main act, DJ Jazzy Jeff! We all had a great time playing the games and enjoying the feeling of Victory.
If you couldn't make it out, I hope these photos will help fill the void. Enjoy!
